What is the Katy Trail?
What was once an abandoned Dallas railroad and now has become one of Dallas' iconic places to explore, the Katy Trail is a bike path that extends from Airline Road and traveling southwest to Victory Promenade, and offers citizens of Dallas a relaxing place to walk, jog, bike and explore the city, without needing a car to get around.
The Katy Trail is also home to various hotpots in Dallas, including The Station at Katy Trail, the Katy Trail Beer and Taproom and most notoriously, the Katy Trail Ice House, a well-reviewed beer garden establishment frequented by Dallas locals.
The Katy Trail has been around for nearly a hundred years, originally built by Union Pacific Railroad. In 1993, Union Pacific donated the abandoned lines to the city of Dallas and a group of passionate locals proposed it be converted into a greenbelt, which it is today.
