How does our cash back service work?
Our cash back service is super user-friendly. And before you say anything- no, it's not as easy as activating your Google Chrome cash back extension. But nothing that involves renting ever is.
Get cash back through Lighthouse using these 4 steps.
Work with a specialist or find an apartment on your own.
We'll start things off by letting you browse your own apartments or work with a specialist.
If you choose to work with a specialist, one of our Lightkeepers will help you with your apartment hunt. The service is free, and they'll send you personalized apartment lists that best fit you.
If you browse on your own, well...you'll be looking for apartments on your own! This option is no different than the regular process of finding a rental apartment.
Find an apartment that offers cash back
Use our search tools to find an apartment. You'll have to enter the following details:
- Preferred location/city
- Number of bedrooms you want
- Max monthly renting budget
- Pick from a list which prompts relate to your renting background
- Your desired move-in date
- Basic contact information (Name, phone number, email address)
Once completed, a map of apartments will pop up. All units will be listed on the right-hand bar. The apartment name, along with its amenities and cash back amounts are also shown.
Sort the results by price or cash back value. You can also make a wishlist of the apartments you're eyeing by clicking the heart!
Connect your bank account
Once you've picked, viewed, and signed your apartment lease, you're ready to get started!
All you have to do is connect your bank information to Lighthouse. And that's that! You'll be ready to receive that extra cash.
If you're nervous about putting your bank details online, don't worry. Our team definitely didn't forget how scary the internet is. We use Plaid to keep everyone's information safe. No selling bank info to third-party enterprises or hacking here!

Step-by-step guide on how to claim your cash back
Lucky for you, this process is super simple. It's literally 2 steps! As long as you list us on your application, you should be good to go!
Now, let's show you how to claim your cash back step by step.
1. Find “How did you hear about us”
All application forms should have this prompt on them (usually in the form of a dropdown list). From here, you will have a range of options to select.
- Rental agency
- Locator
- Realtor
- Agent
Selecting ANY of these will make you eligible for cash back.
2. Find "Who helped/referred you"
From there, answer the "who helped you/ who referred you" question.
In this box, you'll answer Lighthouse.
And voila! Submit your application, and get ready to receive your apartment cash back from us!
