Missoula
The University of Montana is a large school, with more than 5,000 students and 170 programs. It has been around since 1882 and is located in Missoula, a city about 90 miles from Billings.
The University of Montana is known for its natural beauty, and this is reflected in the surrounding area. During the summer months, you will be able to enjoy the outdoors by hiking up one of many mountains and soaking up some sun. If you prefer winter activities, there are several ski slopes within driving distance that can be accessed by public bus or shuttle services.
The school has a wide range of subjects available for study including liberal arts, business administration and engineering. However it does not offer any graduate programs so if you are hoping to continue your education at a postgraduate level.
Students at UM are required to live on campus for their first two years; after that, most students move off campus. Most students choose to live close by in Missoula or its surrounding areas. Many students live off campus in apartments or houses rather than dormitories which makes it easier to make friends and build communities outside of class time too!
