Oxford
The University of Mississippi is a public research university located in Oxford, Mississippi. The university was established in 1848, making it one of the oldest universities in the country. It has an enrollment of more than 20,000 students and offers over 100 undergraduate majors and over 60 graduate programs.
Students who attend this school are often attracted to its strong academic programs, including its business program (ranked first by U.S News & World Report), education program (ranked second) and pharmacy program (ranked fifth). It also has excellent programs in English literature & language studies at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
The University of Mississippi is known for its large Greek system, which makes up more than 1/3 of all students at Ole Miss. Students who are not in a frat or sorority tend to live in the off-campus apartments just south of campus called The Hill.
Housing on the Oxford campus can be expensive, but there are plenty of off-campus options available that are within walking distance to class and provide easy access to public transportation. The city itself has its charms: itβs home to some great restaurants, bars and shops as well as being an excellent college town. If you want something more rural though, then head north towards Memphis.
