The University of Minnesota is well-known for its distinguished academics and athletics, as well as the many student organizations that are available. Students can choose from over 350 majors in the liberal arts and sciences; there are also more than 60 undergraduate professional programs available across 40 fields of study.
Students who want to major in business should look into the Carlson School of Management or the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs. The College of Liberal Arts has a variety of programs for students looking for an interdisciplinary approach to their studies, such as Women's Studies or Social Thought and Conduct. University students can also take advantage of opportunities like cross-registration with local high schools, internships off campus and international experiences through study abroad programs (more information on these later).
Being on campus offers a wide range of activities outside class time including concerts held at Williams Arena (the home court for Gopher basketball), plays produced by Theatre Company or other dance performances by companies housed within Theatre Building East & West. There's also plenty going on during non-academic hours like late night shopping at Target Field Place Mall which features stores like Urban Outfitters alongside local favorites like Spoonriver Pasta Bar & Market.
