Mansfield
University of Connecticut is a public research university in Storrs, Connecticut. The main campus is home to the majority of UConn’s academic buildings and athletic facilities, while its fifth residential college, Trumbull College, is located in nearby Mansfield.
The primary campus covers more than 1,000 acres (4 km²) and includes more than 100 major buildings that serve as homes to over 30 academic departments as well as dozens of student organizations. UConn’s flagship engineering program was ranked 35th among all universities in the nation by the National Academy of Engineering. The university also has a medical school with multiple campuses around Greater Hartford and has been consistently ranked among top ten medical schools by US News & World Report.
UConn is known for its excellent engineering and science programs. The University of Connecticut has a lot of great resources for students who want to study engineering or science, which is why it's one of our top choices if you're interested in either subject.
If you're into sports or just want to live somewhere that won't make your wallet cry, UConn has plenty of options for off-campus living as well. Most students choose to live on campus rather than in an apartment or home off campus because it's convenient, safe and affordable—but there are still some ways around this!
If you want something more low-key than a dorm room but don't necessarily want to rent an entire house by yourself (or share with roommates), consider renting from one of the many landlords who own houses near campus. This can be especially useful if you're going away for the summer after freshman year because then no one will be moving out until fall semester starts again!
