New York
Touro College is a private and nonsectarian university with a main campus in the Financial District of Manhattan, New York City. It was founded in 1950 by Dr. Bernard Lander, an Orthodox rabbi and an educator who believed that Jewish tradition could be reconciled with modern science. The school was renamed after its founder's death to honor his memory, and today it has grown into one of America's largest independent institutions for higher education, with five schools and colleges offering undergraduate programs at seven campuses across the nation (two in New York City).
The Touro School of Health Sciences includes several departments including nursing; medical sciences; physical therapy; occupational therapy; speech language pathology and audiology; pharmacy administration; physician assistant studies; dental hygiene education; nutrition sciences & food service management/hospitality management (part-time). Several master’s degree programs are also offered: Master of Science In Sports Medicine (MS); Master Of Arts In Liberal Studies With Concentration In Gerontology And Leadership Development (MALSD); Certificate Program In Advanced Practice Nursing Education And Management (CAPENM).
Touro is a not-for-profit institution, and it receives financial support from tuition, gifts from alumni and friends, grants from government agencies, endowment income and investments. In addition to its undergraduate and graduate programs, the school also offers continuing education courses for those looking to obtain their professional licenses or certification.
If you want to live off campus then an apartment search would be ideal for finding a place close enough that it won’t take too long but far enough away so that you don’t have schoolwork interrupting your free time as often as possible. If you want to stay on campus then there are plenty of food options within walking distance or short subway rides away from each other.
