Temecula
The city of Temecula, California is located in the southern part of Riverside County and was incorporated in 1988. It has a population of approximately 100,000 people and covers an area of 40.6 square miles. Temecula is surrounded by mountains and valleys, which makes it very popular with tourists who want to explore nature while they are traveling.
Temecula is a Spanish word meaning "hot water". The name was given to this area because of its fertile soil that produces wine grapes and other crops. Temecula was once home to the Luiseño people before they were driven out by Mission San Luis Rey de Francia (1810).
Temecula is known for its many citrus groves and wineries. It hosts two major events: the Temecula Valley International Film Festival in late fall and the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival held during Memorial Day weekend. The city is also known for being home to a number of celebrities, including former football player Fred Biletnikoff, actor Stephen Baldwin, and reality star Nicole Richie.
Temecula is a popular city to visit, and there are plenty of attractions in the area.
