The school was founded in 1926 by philanthropist and educator Marion Coats and has been co-educational since its inception. Sarah Lawrence College is a very unique school. I would say that it is one of the most progressive colleges in the country and has a very open atmosphere. The campus is beautiful and well maintained, but can feel a little too small at times. It's a great place to be independent and explore your interests outside of classes.
