Pasadena is a city in the U.S. state of California and the county seat of Los Angeles County.

The city is located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, just northwest of Downtown Los Angeles. The city is named for Pasadena's history as a stop for Old Spanish Trail travelers and for the popular Rose Parade held each January 1st since 1890 (except during World War II).

Pasadena is home to several colleges and universities: California Institute of Technology, Fuller Theological Seminary, Art Center College of Design and Occidental College. The University of California also operates several campuses in Pasadena/Los Angeles including an extensive medical center.

This neighborhood has dozens of restaurants lining Colorado Boulevard and plenty of shops on Raymond Avenue—plus it's just a few miles away from Caltech (and not far from USC). Another great option is Playhouse District: this area has some off-campus housing options as well as plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Finally, if you're willing to drive or take public transportation into town every day then South Lake Avenue might be worth considering; there are still lots of fun things happening here even though it's further away from downtown than Old Town or Playhouse District.
