There are plenty of opportunities for students to get involved off-campus as well through volunteer work or internships with local businesses/companies near Starkville or nearby cities such as Tupelo & Columbus Mississippi which have thriving downtown areas packed full of shops & restaurants as well as recreational activities like golfing at Golden Bear Golf Course located just south east outside town off Highway 82 towards Hattiesburg highway 1 exit ramp off 82 towards Collins Road turn right onto Collins Road then left onto Oxford Street where there will be signs indicating that this road leads directly into downtown Oxford's historic district.
