Baton Rouge
Louisiana State University (LSU) is a public research university located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Founded in 1853 and originally called Louisiana State Seminary of Learning & Military Academy, it later changed its name to Louisiana State University.
Students can choose from over 200 majors at LSU and there are hundreds of clubs and organizations that students can join on campus.
Louisiana State University is known for its excellent business program and sports teams. It has the state's largest student enrollment, with approximately 26,000 undergraduate and graduate students. LSU is a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in the NCAA's Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The athletic department supports over 500 student-athletes on 18 varsity teams that compete in the SEC for all sports except football and men's golf.
North Baton Rouge is where most students live, and there are also a few off-campus apartment complexes within walking distance of the school. The price of renting off-campus apartments depends on amenities and how close it is to the university.
