Terre Haute
Indiana State University is one of the best state universities in Indiana. It’s also a good choice for students who want to live in a city that doesn’t feel like the rest of Indiana, which can often be more rural than urban.
Indiana State University is known for its strong journalism program and world-class theater productions. If you're interested in studying journalism, you'll find an array of courses offered by the school's Department of Journalism that will prepare you to enter the field after graduation. The university also has a well-regarded English department with undergraduate and graduate programs designed to help students develop their critical thinking skills while working toward their degrees.
Students who live on campus can expect housing options ranging from traditional dorms to apartment complexes or townhouses that allow them to have more space than they would have as a resident in one of the university's residence halls. ISU offers an on-campus shuttle system that transports students around campus and into town when they need it, making it easy for them to get where they’re going without having to worry about parking or transportation costs outside their rent payments each month.
The university has a number of campus clubs, organizations and activities that students can participate in while they're studying there. These groups include ISU's radio station, which broadcasts on 91.5 FM and online; the school's newspaper, the Indiana State Times; and its student-run yearbook. Other opportunities for students to get involved include Greek life, intramural sports teams and volunteer programs.
