Frankfurt
Frankfurt is the financial capital of Germany and home to some of the country's most popular attractions, including the Palmengarten botanical gardens and the Goethe Museum. The city is also known for its museums, restaurants, clubs and bars.
The local economy has grown by almost 2% per year over the last decade; in 2017 that meant a GDP of $177 billion (US). That trend will likely continue as Frankfurt becomes an increasingly major center for business after Brexit.
The city is a major center for finance, with many international banks having their headquarters there, including Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank. The Frankfurt Stock Exchange is also a leading European market.
In terms of neighborhoods, Frankfurt has nearly every kind imaginable: hipster hangouts like Sachsenhausen and trendy shopping streets like Zeil are just a few examples of what draws people to this cultural center.
