Firenze has a population of approximately 380,000 people, It was founded in 59 BC by Marcus Claudius Marcellus (a Roman consul), In 1470 it became capital city of Tuscany region, It has been home to several notable figures throughout history including Michelangelo Buonarroti who designed buildings like Palazzo della Signoria which houses an ornate façade carved with stories from Roman mythology; Filippo Brunelleschi who brought new techniques for building domes that allowed him to construct churches like Santa Maria del Fiore (known locally as Duomo). Florentines refer often today still call themselves "duomini", meaning "men from Duomo".

Firenze is a city of art, culture and history. The city center is packed with world-class museums, including the Uffizi Gallery and Palazzo Pitti art gallery. It's also home to some of Italy's most famous statues: Michelangelo's David at Piazza della Signoria and Verrocchio's bronze version at San Lorenzo Church.
