Williamsburg
The College of William and Mary is a public research university located in Williamsburg, Virginia. The school was established in 1693 by royal charter as the college of William and Mary, with a mission to provide an education to the sons of planters, merchants, and other prominent men rather than educating farmers. Today it is one of two Colonial Colleges that were originally established before the American Revolution (the other being Harvard University). It annually enrolls more than 8,000 students from all 50 states and nearly 100 countries.
It has been ranked as one of the top 50 best public universities in America by U.S News & World Report every year since its inception.
