San Luis Obispo
Cal Polytechnic State University is a public university in San Luis Obispo, California. The school was founded in 1901 as the California State Polytechnic School, and has been continuously accredited since 1949 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The name was changed to Cal Polytechnic State University in 1957.
The university offers bachelor's degrees in over 140 areas of study and master's degrees in engineering, agriculture, business administration and education among others. It also offers several doctoral programs through its five colleges: Agriculture; Business; Engineering; Liberal Arts; Science & Mathematics
Most students live on campus because off-campus housing is scarce compared to other locations with colleges or universities nearby. There aren't any apartments available within walking distance from campus so most students have cars or bikes regardless if they live on or off campus.
The campus is safe and well lit, but there are some areas that aren't as safe as others. The campus police department works closely with local law enforcement to keep students safe.
