Bogotá
Bogotá is the capital of Colombia, and it's one of the most populous cities in South America. It has a population of about 8 million people, which means you'll never be at a loss for things to do and places to eat.
The city thrives on tourism, so there are plenty of attractions as well as restaurants that serve traditional Colombian food. The city is also known for its nightlife and salsa music scene, so if dancing is your thing then you'll find plenty of opportunities here!
There are lots of popular neighborhoods in Bogota where foreigners often live (also called "colonias"). These include Chapinero Alto, Usaquen and La Candelaria; they're all full of great bars and cafes where you can grab some authentic local cuisine while enjoying views over Bogota's beautiful skyline.
The city is also famous for its annual carnival and the Festival of Flowers, which takes place every September. The carnival is a colorful celebration with parades, music, dancing and fireworks that lasts for around 10 days. The festival of flowers is a parade where people carry large flower arrangements through Bogota's streets.
The city is a great place to visit if you want to experience the vibrant culture of Colombia while also enjoying some time in nature. There are lots of parks, gardens and green spaces, including Parque Nacional Natural El Peñol.
