Dallas
Southern Methodist University is a private, non-profit research university in University Park, Texas. The school's primary campus is located on 121 acres about three miles west of downtown Dallas. It has an endowment of $1.1 billion and offers more than 350 degree programs across its seven colleges—including the Dedman School of Law, which is consistently ranked among the top 20 law schools in the country.
The large majority of students live on-campus at SMU's residential colleges. These five residential communities are organized into small subsections that function as a hybrid between dormitories and neighborhoods (think "Quad" meets "Hall"). Each one has its own dining hall with both hot breakfast items and casual lunch fare; they also have their own libraries, computer labs and recreation areas (e.g., fitness centers).
Students typically move off campus after their sophomore year, when they can apply for one of several apartment complexes located within walking distance from campus or within a short bus ride away from campus (there are three different bus routes around SMU).
